Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company has a long and storied history in the agricultural development of our islands and is deeply intertwined with the Maui community and with generations of our families. Along with being a major employer and taxpayer on the Valley Isle for more than 125 years of operation, we currently provide wages, benefits and health care compensation for over 800 employees.

HC&S is Hawaii's largest provider of raw sugar, producing as much as 200,000 tons each year on our 35,000-acre plantation located in central Maui on the slopes of Mt. Haleakala. We process our sugarcane crop at our Pu'unene Mill.

In addition to the growing and milling of sugarcane, our principal businesses include the production of raw sugar, specialty sugar, molasses, and the generation and sale of electricity to help provide power across the island.

HC&S was first incorporated in 1882 as the result of a series of plantation mergers including the original plantation of Samuel T. Alexander and Henry P. Baldwin whose partnership ultimately became Alexander & Baldwin, Inc.

HC&S joined the Alexander & Baldwin family of companies in 1898 and was finally merged with A&B in 1962.
